A Certification is a learning program that can have an expiry date in order to accommodate situations where re-certification is necessary. A Curriculum is functionally the same learning program, just without the expiration date capability.
To create a Certification or Curriculum:
On the Admin menu, select Training > Manage Certifications or Training > Manage Curricula. This example will focus on a Certification, but the process is the same for both.
On the Manage Certifications screen, select the New Certification button.
The new Certification Properties screen appears. This section of the guide assumes the Advanced View is enabled. If not, there are fewer fields and options to enter. Complete the following fields and options:
- In the Certification Name box, type the name of the new certification.
- In the Description box, type the description that you want to appear on the Certification Listing screen and the Certification Requirements screen.
- For the Thumbnail, select the image to preview, select the Edit icon to add or edit a thumbnail, and select the Eraser icon to remove the thumbnail.
- In the Keywords box, add words that can be used to search for this certification.
- Complete the Industry Segment box if appropriate.
- To add a Printable Certificate, select the magnifying glass icon. In the Select a Certificate window, select a certificate preview image to see an expanded view, and then select a filename to make your selection. Close the Select a Certificate window.
- In the Display Order box, type the position in which you want the certification to appear to the user. This is typically set to 0.
- To set an expiration period, select an Expiration option in the dropdown menu. Then, when additional options appear, select the number of days, or date, etc.
- By default, the Certification becomes active as soon as it’s created. To make it inactive, uncheck the Active checkbox.
- Select a Certification Owner. This will default to the user logged in currently creating the Certification.
- If necessary, select a Group Owner. Select the magnifying glass icon and select a group from the list. These are Audience Types.
- Select the Save button.
The Certification is saved and is ready for content to be added. This is done with Requirement Groups on the Groups tab.
