What is an Audience Type

An Audience Type is a way to group users together who otherwise may not have any other commonalities.

An audience type is a way to group users based on a set of criteria. Criteria can include (but is not limited to) job roles, organizations, and specific users. Such groups are reusable and give the administrator the ability to allow access to content, courses, or membership in email distribution groups. Audience types can be built using static mappings (for example, adding users directly to the audience type) or by dynamic mappings—adding an organization to the audience type.
