Mapping Items to a Catalog

Courses, certifications, and curricula can be mapped, along with the users and user groups to gain access to the content.

On the Admin menu, select Training > Manage Catalogs.

On the Manage Catalogs screen, select the dropdown on the View button and select the Mapping option.

Using the Type dropdown menu on the left, select the type of content to map to the Catalog. Mapping Courses, Certifications, and Curricula will add that content to the Catalog. Mapping Users, Campuses, Organizations, Jobs, or Audience Types will grant those users access to the mapped training content.

Note: Primary and Inheritance settings are only used when assigning Organizations or Managed Organizations to Users. These options are not used in any other mappings.

The Sub-Type dropdown only applies to Organizations. When Organization is selected in the Type dropdown, you can use the Sub-Type dropdown to select a Sub-Organization. If any items other than Organizations are selected in the first dropdown, the Sub-Type will have no options available.

Use the Keyword text box to enter search terms. In this example, we will map a Course. Enter your search term and select the Get Items button. Search results are shown in the left-hand box below. Selecting the Get Items button with nothing entered in the Keyword field will return all results.

From the search results on the left, highlight the result by selecting it. You can use CTRL + click to select multiple items. Use the >> button to map them to the catalog. If mapping a single item, you can also double click the result to assign it to the Catalog.

Once the selected items have been moved to Items Assigned to, select the Submit button to save your changes.

Note that you must use the Submit button in between searches to save your changes. For example, if you search for a Course and move it to Items Assigned to, then immediately search for another item without using the Submit button to save your changes, the first Course will remain unassigned.
