Permissions Required

To update learning objects in a course, certain permissions are required. These permissions ensure that only authorized individuals can make changes to the course content. Typically, these permissions are granted by the learning management system (LMS) administrator or an assigned course administrator role.

Having the necessary permissions allows you to maintain the course content and ensure that it remains up to date and relevant for the learners. It also gives you control over the learning objects within the course, enabling you to add new materials, replace existing ones, or remove any outdated or irrelevant content.

How to Update Learning Objects in a Course

Once you have the required permissions, updating learning objects becomes a straightforward process. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. From the Admin page - Click on Courses from the Admin sidebar or Manage Content Card.

  2. Select "Edit an existing Course" and Click Next to continue.Select "Edit an existing Course" and Click Next to continue.
  3. Select the Course you wish to Edit.

  4. Click on "Next" to skip to the Learning Objects Tools

  5. Select Learning Objects to Add or Remove from the Course
    You can use the Filter options on the left side to select from different types of Learning Objects.
    Click to highlight, then use the Center Arrow Buttons to add or remove them from the Course.

  6. Click on next when you've completed your adjustments.Click on next when you've completed your adjustments.
  7. Use the "Order" Arrows to reorder the Learning Objects
    Click up to move a Learning Object up on place.

What happens to Enrollments when you update Learning Objects? 

If you update a Learning Object in a Course, either by replacing the SCORM file or adding/removing/swapping a Video or File type Learning Object, the following effects will happen.

If an Enrollment is active & in progress:
  • Adding a new Learning Object
    • This will simply show the new lesson in the Learning Objects Panel the next time a user visits their Course Page.
    • All future Reports for enrollments in that that Course will now contain the Lesson.
  • Removing a Video/File Learning Object or Replacing a SCORM Learning Object
    • If a User has completed the Learning Object Alread in their Enrollment
      • The Learning Object will be visible but disabled.
    • If the User has not yet completed the Learning Object.
      • The Learning Object will simply not show in the User's view for that Enrollment.
      • All future Reports for the Course will no longer show that Learning Object.

If an Enrollment is completed:
  • No changes to the Enrollment information will occur.
